"It's the high before the crash/It's wishing it would last".

The Dawn of Speech is a series of 21 poems that show the life that many people go through. The series starts off with "The Night" to showcase how our own mind starts to become our enemy. The series transitions into finding love with "Sleeping". Unfortunately, love doesn't always last as shown in "Decaying Love" and "Night Terrors". After the bond between two people has been broken, there is a time where we are not okay to put it lightly. But eventually, we start working to become better and to pick ourselves back up again. This is where the transition to "Beginning Stages" appears.

Many a times while we are searching for answers, the answers we seek come to find us. It is in our most "Broken" times that we find a saving hand reaching out towards us. That is the hand of Christ. "I've learned to love again/And I thank God for that chance/Christ has saved me/It's a second hope He grants". Through this ability to love again we can find our love for others. And it's in that love we have for others that we are able to find ourselves. If we are lucky, we even get the chance to have a "Last Love". "For she is my all through it all/She is my last love/The one who tears down my highest walls".

Joseph Wood

My name is Joseph Wood. I grew up in Townsend, Massachusetts before moving to Tucson, Arizona where I currently live. I've always loved reading as well as sports. My favorite sport would have to be either Football (Go Patriots!) or Brazilian jiujitsu. My favorite book series has to be the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. I love watching shows like Friends, HIMYM, and Psych. I got into poetry when I was in 9th grade Spanish class, and I was bored. I've never been that great at learning Spanish, so I started writing poems. And here we are today. I'm so glad to be on this journey with you all and I can't wait to see where it leads.
